Lens flares On/Off, was surprised to find this actually impacted my fps, i lose 3 or 4 fps with it set to on. Low and medium yield no fps boosts, epic makes you lose 1 or 2 fps. Shading, set it to high or epic, i set mine high to be safe cause i see little difference between high and epic. Post processing, set it to medium or high, avoid epic as it eats 10 fps almost. Īnti-aliasing, crank it to Epic, does not impact fps at all. View distance to medium, keep it at medium they look still ok, going above medium loses 5 fps. So i kept it to Medium but later on noticed, certain elements of the sky boxes in space get really chunky pixelly textures if you're playing under high which was a bit too much of a graphical downgrade for me, so i set it to high and sacrificed the 5 fps i lose in some areas with it above medium as the chunky pixel textures for skyboxes was a bit much for me.ĭropping shadows to medium helps too, dropping them to low does very little so keep em' at medium. There's also other settings which have an impact, weirdly enough texture quality impacts the frame rate, even though my RX 580 has plenty of video memory and i'm playing just in 1080p, somehow setting textures above medium to high or epic can make me lose 5 fps, even though the game it self at most eats 5GB of VRAM on the highest texture setting. So, wanting to strike a balance, i found out the two most demanding settings are "Effects" and "Volumetrics", dropping both of these to medium yields a solid 20 fps boost, dropping them both to low nets another additional 5 more fps at the expense of a more noticiable visual drop so keep it at medium I'd say. Outdoor areas are better, even on high preset it hold 50-60 fps, not amazing but solid. The interior areas are the most problematic, in the tutorial section when i entered the asteroid, it dropped all the way down to 29 fps in some areas in there when i had everything set to high, reducing all to low did improve it to 50 fps but sacrificed all bells and whistles and i'd say visuals do play a key role in a game like this so playing on low is out of the question. Game is installed on a samsung ssd, forgot which exact model name. Music, poetry, and video editing are some of his other big passions, and he’s been known to dabble in all of them from time to time.Even though the RX 580 is listed as recommended, which made it seem this could run without too many issues from the get go, it didn't turn out to be so, maybe that's the long term goal but as of now with the current build, the RX 580 in this game will have issues holding 60 fps even on lower settings.
